Engineering Plastics² – corporate Group’s profile enhanced
Plastics expertise concentrated within a strong corporate Group – that was the message conveyed by AKRO-PLASTIC GmbH, specialist for innovative, application-oriented plastics compounds, and K.D. Feddersen GmbH & Co. KG, distributor of engineering plastics, at the world’s largest plastics and rubber trade fair.
On the theme of “Engineering Plastics²” and symbolized by an oversized zipper, the two companies showed there was a lot more behind their facade than a traditional trading firm and a plastics compounding operation. A newly designed joint exhibit booth underscored the companies’ membership in a corporate Group, thereby enhancing their profile as a reliable partner for all aspects of engineering plastics.
Thanks to the comprehensive technical expertise of the companies under the umbrella of the Feddersen Group, end-to-end service is part and parcel of Group members’ offering to customers. Thus unlike a traditional trading firm, K.D. Feddersen has its own Application Engineering department to assist customers in selecting the right raw material and create effective, practicable solutions for product development. And customer-focused demand, distribution and production planning means distribution concepts are tailor-made for each customer – even for small quantities.
AKRO-PLASTIC sees itself as an integrated service partner. In its state-of-the-art production facilities, formulations are developed based on customer specifications and then turned into marketable standard products as well as application-specific specialty products.
From small orders to full service, toll compounding allows flexible, efficient production with high-quality results. As one of few mid-sized providers of plastics production and compounding services, the company also offers assured materials testing using test methods certified by the Deutscher Akkreditierungsrat (German Accreditation Council) in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17025.
“Over the past 60 years, the level of plastics expertise has increased markedly within the Feddersen Group. As a result, through branches of the Feddersen Group (sales & distribution, logistics and production sites) we are now able to offer our customers excellent service not only in Germany, but also in a number of European countries, as well as China, Southeast Asia, and Latin America – that’s what we mean by ‘Engineering Plastics Squared’,” explains Leander Bergmann, Head of Marketing at AKRO-PLASTIC.
“So given the high percentage of international trade delegates in attendance, the International Plastics and Rubber Trade Fair in particular is an excellent venue for presenting our global orientation,” adds Bergmann.
Trade fair visitors’ willingness to invest was seen as extremely positive within the Feddersen Group and showed evidence of recovery from both companies’ perspectives.
“In 2010 we were able to have a significantly greater number of fruitful discussions than three years previously,” says Dr. Stephan Schnell, Managing Director of K.D. Feddersen GmbH & Co. KG. “Consequently, we share the generally positive market assessment in the industry,” Schnell adds.
